The Weather Did What?

First of all, I want to apologise in advance for the quality of my pictures. The lighting was poor and the operator of the camera(me) is not very skilled! But I did want to share with you our unusual weather.
After a cold misty rain much of the day on Thursday, towards evening it began to rain in earnest. Just before dark, it started to storm with lightning and thunder. I heard what I thought were those extra large rain drops hitting the garden window, but looked out to see hail. In the past we have had hail that lasted maybe at most a minute or so and I was sure by the time I got my camera out it would be gone. It didn't stop! The noise was deafening! I was actually a little scared!

This is on the front steps. On the patio, and can you see it falling?

You can see it on the roof of the house across the street and in the yards. It looks like snow!
The pea-sized hail accumulated to about an inch before it quit. And then it did RAIN! We had a little over an inch in about twenty minutes. Even with that, the hail didn't melt completely for a while.
Luckily, when we checked for damage this morning, we found none. The car was fine, no broken windows in the house, and the tulips and daffodils seemed to be none the worse for wear. I hope that is the extent of our bad weather for spring!

Oh have just had the weather that we had last week. We had hail storms for 5 days on and off. We now have rain rain and more rain. It is most definately not spring here.
Hope the sun comes out for you this weekend.

oh Beckie, when I lived in Iowa hail like that always came before tornadoes. I hope that you don't have any more bad weather, but I'm going to keep an eye on the weather in your part of the world today. Be safe.

I am glad to see you didn't have any damage. I just hate hail when it bangs away at the flowers in the garden. It seems like when the hostas are up in early spring hail is as devastating as slugs.
Hopefully this will be the last of the worst weather.

Cheryl, we are to get sun today, rain tomorrow then sun then rain...
hopefully no storms!

Beth, I was watching the radar pretty close as we did have thunderstorms. Luckily no sign of a tornado. This spring weather is certainly taking it's time getting here. Hope your arrives soon.

Lisa, we only have hail like this about every 5 years or so, thank goodness. I was certain it would beat the tulips and the lilac buds and was surprised when it didn't. Of course Steve's first thoughts were the car! (I hadn't thought about it!!)

I can't believe the hail missed us. I'm glad it didn't cause any damage.

Hail is frightening! Last summer my daughter, who lives only 20 minutes away from us, had hail the size of golf balls that damaged the siding on her house. I could hear it hitting her house over the phone! We only had a t-storm.

Hopefully, that's the last bad storm you'll have this spring.

Let the sun shine on you,
