Finally!

Actually, the impeachment process has been started and will take some time to finalize. But we are headed in the right direction.

**"Driven by anger and politics, the Illinois House voted overwhelmingly today to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich, an unprecedented action that sets the stage for a Senate trial on whether he should be thrown out of office for corruption and abuse of power."

Impeachment requires just 60 votes and the vote was 114-1. This was after a special House committee heard testimony on the abuses he has allegedly committed.

"Blagojevich was arrested on Dec. 9 on federal charges that include allegations he schemed to profit from his power to name President-elect Obama's replacement in the senate. The criminal complaint included and FBI agent's sworn affidavit describing wiretaps that caught Blagojevich allegedly talking about what he could get for the seat, how to pressure people into making campaign contributions and more."

All of this is proving to be very interesting. Senators and Representatives are all speaking out about " ....cleaning up the mess and stopping the freak show that has become Illinois government." Yes, let's prove how upright and honest we are by proving how corrupt he is. I know this sounds cynical, but can you blame me.

To be fair I am providing a site here to let you read about his side of the story.

Stay tuned for further developments in the soap opera of a story.

And I hope you have a great weekend!

Beckie,

Who could find fault in a cynical attitude toward politics as usual. We've had our share of corrupt governors, sherifs and mayors so I am not pointing fingers at Illinois!

Good for Illinois! But I can't help but wonder the motivation for the one naysayer.

What goes around comes around. And he will get what he deserves.

I hope IL gets someone competent enough to straighten out all the wrinkles.

I hope you have a good weekend too Beckie. Better get outside while you can. Next week is gonna be a doozie it sounds like. Just reading the word SUBZERO makes me cold.

Well since I'm probably the least political person you will ever meet I'm just going to say, "Beckie, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!"

No state needs this kind of person in office. I wish we could get rid of all like him.

One down, only about a hundred left to go. Change that to "hundreds". And I'm not talking just about Illinois. Every state and city has it's share of corrupt politicians. What's up with that???? Do they have to be a bit corrupt in order to get into office, or does the office corrupt them once they're in it?

I agree it's about time! A vote of 114-1 in a Congress that can't agree on anything tells you something. I hope this provides a wake-up call to all politicians not to get so power-hungry and to the voters to look carefully at who they are voting for. The state of Illinois deserves better.

Hope you have a good weekend, Beckie. I've been working the last three days, which is fine on these cold days when spring and gardening seem so far away.

I certainly can't blame you.....politics in the UK make me ashamed sometimes.....everyone in it for their own end....

I am on your side Beckie....may he get all he deserves.......

Beckie, you'll forgive this Canadian that I've been following this story with somewhat morbid fascination. Mostly because he's providing such fodder for my favourite US commentators; Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow (I don't recall Stephen Colbert saying much yet but he's the fourth in my must-watch commentator group). You know, they couldn't make this stuff if they tried. It's truly bizarre but also somewhat hilarious. I stress, however, that politics is equally exasperating here; just not quite as interesting at times.

Gail, isn't it amazing how many politicians become corrupt? I know it's not just IL.-there seems to be an epedimic!

Tina, I totally agree. He was from Chicago and of course that's where the Gov. spends most of his time.

Wendy, I certainly hope so. We just have to have faith that the system will eventually work.

Lisa, makes one wonder if there are any competents out there.

Winter is not over yet! You stay warm too. :}

Susie, I just couldn't resist posting about this. We are making history here in IL. with an impeachment. Hope your week goes well for you.

Bev, AMEN! Maybe if they get the job done, some of the other politicians will straighten up at least for a while. :}

Flydragon, they must have to attend an orientation in 'power mad and money hungry'to get into office!

Rose, I found that very interesting that almost all of them agreed. I wonder if they thought voting no would put them under suspicion?

We need a gardening fix! How about Prairie Gardens?

Cheryl, corruption in politics knows no boundries. Pretty sad isn't it? We just have to be vigilant and not so trusting of those in power.

Jodi, how right you are! They couldn't write this stuff. :} And it is interesting and verges on the absurd at times. If we didn't keep a sense of humor about it we'd cry.

Hi Beckie, I'm going to start telling my blogging friends I'm from Wisconsin. No embarrassment if you're from WI, or Iowa or Indiana.

The thing is there are dozens of IL politicians just as guilty (or almost) all believing they won't get caught. And they probably won't.

Well, it's been interesting reading--all his antics and appointments. At least Illinois is one step closer to ridding the state of machine politics. Maybe.

I hate to turn on the news, Beckie ... life is stranger than fiction! Sad but true, it seems at some point in their careers, many politicians sell their souls.

My thoughts exactly on your blog about the Impeachment but also keep in mind Bill Clinton was Impeached and he remained in office.
I am glad I followed Joeys Garden over to your page. You have some wonderful ideas and photos.

Stay warm. We are freezing in Ohio as well.

I refer more world of warcraft gold so to the reward of world of warcraft gold seeing content. As it stands gear doesn't entitle you to do much other than raid. That works too. So does this.We all wow power leveling have a little failboat captain in us all.Self esteem refers to how much a person likes, accepts, and respects himself overall as a person. but to the time vs reward investment blizzard has presented.put some time into BGs and Arena and you world of warcraft gold will be rewarded... in PvP put time into Raids and you will be rewarded... in PvE i dont see what the big issue is, after cheap wow gold looking at all these posts it seems like the bottom line is that raiders want to be rewarded in both PvE world of warcraft gold and PvP for just particpating in PvE which doesnt make sence...It was never my intention to imply buy wow gold that raiders should be rewarded in both PvP and PvE. I was merely trying to suggest that blizzard should reevaluate the rewards "hardcore" raiders receive. There should be a bulletin board in every major city showing top ranking guilds as far as raids go. Also there should be a speed running world of warcraft gold category like down the last boss in an raid instance in X amount of time.No one is saying wow gold kaufen we want this... were just stating that it USED to be like this before pvp had alot of content of its own.Blizzard dofus kamas has held big tournaments for pvp with cash and prizes. All we want is a kamas dofus visible means that blizzard supplies solicit your assistance in a funds transfer deal involving world of warcraft gold US$3.5M.This fund has been stashed out of the excess profit made last year by my branch office the International cheap wow gold Commercial Bank which I am the Manager. There's no need for more than one charging ability in one stance. If you don't stance world of warcraft gold dance, then you're not a real tank. It is our job to offer you WOW gold,WOW money,WOW accounts,WOW power leveling at a extremly buy wow gold low price. Make you purchase here!
