" A New Year is Unfolding..."

Can you believe this year is almost over? As I grow older the years seem to speed by more quickly than the one before. I suppose it is only natural to think of all that has happened in the year past and wonder what is to come in the next.

For the most part, I have shared my 'happenings' with you already. But I thought this would be a good time to share them again and see how your year was.

I started a new medicine for my fibromyalgia on the first day of the year and it proved to be a miracle drug for me.

"This bright new year is given me-To live each day with zest...",
John Burroughs

Did you have any life-altering happenings?

I started blogging and met many wonderful fellow bloggers-some of whom garden, others who offer delicious recipes and those who write with great passion.

How has blogging affected your life this year?

I've been blessed with new family members and they have become very dear to me. I have lost loved ones who influenced who I am today. I have been doubly blessed with getting to see more of my granddaughters.

"Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold."-- Anonymous

How has your family changed this year?

I am making resolutions to live my life to the fullest each day and be thankful for all it gives me.

Be at war with your vices; at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man."-- Benjamin Franklin

Do you make resolutions-and more importantly, do you keep them?

My wish for the New Year is love, laughter, family and friends for us all!

See you in 2009!

**my apologies for the lay out. blogger is doing it's own thing tonight!**

Happy New Year, Beckie. We all have a lot to be thankful for this year. I am especially happy for you and the granddaughter situation. I hope that 2009 unfolds with just as much joy for you.

It is so hard to believe how quickly this year has flown. Do I make resolutions? Yup-lose weight. Do I keep it? Not yet but still holding on to the scale:) Have a great New Year!

I too, just started blogging this past year and have met some great, funny, interesting people, you included. As for resolutions...nope.

Beckie, This is a great post! It's such a good idea to look back at what has changed in your life and what you have accomplished. I know seeing your granddaughters more has to be the highlight of the year, though the Lyrica must be a very close second.
I make the same resolutions every year, but don't keep up with them--lose weight, exercise more, etc. I AM going to try harder this year, and also to make a couple more resolutions that might be easier to keep:)
Looking forward to seeing you New Year's Eve!

--The word verification today is "nobly"--I guess I'm being very noble in making my resolutions:)

Happy New Year Beckie,

This is a wonderful post! It has slowed me down to consider all that this year has given me.

But first, I am thrilled the Lyrica is working for you! It is a miracle drug. I do love your resolution "to live my life to the fullest each day and be thankful for all it gives me." May I borrow it? It is really the best resolution...far better then my usual~~to exercise more and eat right!

Happy New Year...2009 is going to be stellar!

Dear Beckie.....
What a lovely post....simple yet heartwarming.....

I have had quite a year....some of which I have not shared, it has been too personal......but with time things will improve....

I have seen a change in my Dad and Mum in law....they are becoming increasingly fragile.....what 2009 will hold for them I do not know. I intend to take them out more and bring them to the garden once the weather warms.....they can sit and watch me work (they like that) My Mum still has the mind of a 30 year old and keeps me in my toes!!!!!

I am glad that new family members have brought you joy.....long may it be so.....

Blogging has been so good for me. I have made many friends that I will treasure for always......they have helped when times have been difficult by being a wonderful distraction.......

I wish you dear Beckie a wonderful New Year..... and count you as one of my blessings.......

What a wonderful thought full and thought provoking post Beckie. I hate to say out loud what I am trying for a New Years Resolution. Ha.. fear of failure I guess.

You are quite right about the years marching along faster and faster as we age. It just makes us slow down and enjoy the time more.

Happy and Healthy New Year to you.

I see you, Benjamin and I are on the 'same page', dear Beckie :) I could fill a book (and have) but instead will wish you and your beautiful family continued health and a blessed New Year! (A toast to Thelma & Louise on New Year's Eve ...CHEERS!)

As far as family happenings I have a new great nephew that I saw for the first time at Christmas.

I found blogging just this year and it is something I enjoy so much; probably too much since I have a hard time pulling myself away from it.

As far as resolutions I don't make any.

I hope you have a happy New Year Beckie!

Yep, this year is almost at a close. At this point it would be hard for me to re-cap all of the happenings around here. Mostly, it has been love filled and many blessings have filled our hearts and home. That is what I will hold on to going into 2009!

Dear Beckie, I loved your post...this has been the beginning year for my blogging experience too! I started to keep in touch with family, but I have found many new friends too! I feel so blessed.

I am so glad the Lyrica has worked so well for you, and I hope the rash is healing and will be a thing of the past soon.

I am always resolving to lose weight, exercise more, eat more veggies, yada, yada, yada...never quite works out the way I plan, but then life never does!

A happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to you!

Tina, I have given upon the weight loss. At least for now. Winter is my time to eat comfort foods. And that translate as fattening foods. :} Happy New year to you!

Well Flydragon, if you don't make them you can't break them! I have so enjoyed your posts. Aren't you glad you became a blogger? Have a great New Year!

Rose, you are right about the girls and the Lyrica. But I should have mentioned sharing gardening with you! I have enjoyed every minute we were 'gardening'. Some traditions just can't be changed-like our seeing the New Year in together. If you keep your resolutions it will be a noble thing. :}

Gail, thank you for your kind comments. You may use the resolution all you want. Becoming blogging friends with you has been a great joy for me this past year. Have a wonderful New Year!

Cheryl, One of the highlights of this past year is to be able to call you friend! I have sensed that youhave things going on in your life that you are not ready to share. That's okay. Just know how much we all care for you and wish you the best. Maybe it'skust as well we don't know what the New Year will bring. We will take it one day at a time. May your New Year bring you peace and contentment.

Interesting post!
I'm glad you found a medication for the fibromyalgia. That's a God send.
I have been blogging a long time and it has been a fun way to meet new friends. I don't get out much and when I do it is to visit my family or shop, so blogging has given me some new and cherished friends.

I don't make new year resolutions. I used to but never stuck with them. Now I simply ask the Lord to help me to be more pleasing to Him.
Have a wonderful new year.

Dear Beckie,
I'm so happy that our little blogging exchanges when I first started blogging, back in November, 2007--ended up here--where I am getting to know you better and able to share my gardening and life with you and other blotanical bloggers! Your blog, and Robin's, are pretty much why I ended up joining blotanical in the first place! I wouldn't have even known it existed had I not found your blogs--by some coincidence or chance--way back then :-)

And the Lyrica: OMG!!! It is the ONLY med that helps my pain. I thought I was unable to take it for a while, because of a rash, and losing my hair...but, I am taking it again and the pain is so tolerable that I HAVE A LIFE when I take it. How can a little rash and a few hairs keep me from taking it? They can't!! I am so glad it is working for you, too, Beckie:-)
I wish you a wonderful year ahead in 2009!!

I have been blogging since October, but in some ways, it seems like it's been longer. I sure got active fast, and have had great fun getting to know people from all over. It started out gardening related, but I also like looking at the critters, skies and whatever people choose to take pics of. I check my stat counter pretty much every day, and see how many people from other countries have visited.

I don't make new year resolutions or give things up for lent. I think it's because I want to love God every day, and walk in faith as life unfolds. I think it has to do with living for the day. I don't do it perfectly consistently, but am thankful for forgiveness.

I don't remember if I knew you had fibromyalgia. I never heard of it until about 10 years ago, but now, I know of a number of people who have to deal with it. I'm glad you've found something that helps.

Happy New Year!

Sue
